Follow A Healthy Diet

Your diet can lower your risk of getting heart disease. You should make sure you include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet because they are filled with antioxidants that help lower your blood pressure and protect your heart. Reduce your intake of processed foods and try to eat as many fresh foods as possible. Foods that are high in sugar have been shown to increase the risk of heart disease.

Take Your Medications

Medications are often prescribed to treat chronic conditions. If you have a chronic condition and are on medication, then it is important for you to take your medication exactly as your doctor prescribes. Make sure you ask questions if there is something you do not understand. All medications come with the risk of side effects. Make sure you talk with your doctor if the side effects start to bother you.

Watch Your Blood Pressure

High blood pressure can cause the heart to work harder. It can also lead to a heart attack or stroke. That is why it is important to have your blood pressure checked on a regular basis.
