Every two minutes someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted. Forty-four percent of these victims are under the age of 18. Katy Christian Ministries and the Katy Police Department have teamed up to host the first “Annual 5K Against Violence” run/walk on Saturday, April 26th at Katy Christian Ministries’ Admin Building.
When many think of Katy Christian Ministries they often think of their food pantry and resale stores. What you may not know as much about is the work they do in the area of helping local victims of domestic and sexual abuse. The domestic and sexual abuse ministries of KCM provide emergency shelter referral or placement, legal advocacy, crisis counseling and support groups. They may serve nearly 2000 families in the Katy, Texas area who have been impacted by domestic or sexual abuse in a year’s time.
By participating in the “5K Against Violence” you can partner with KCM and the Katy Police Department to make sure that victims of sexual or domestic abuse in our community get the help that they need.
The cost for pre-registration is $25 for adults and $15 for children. Race day registration will be $35 and will begin at 6:30 AM on April 26th at KCM’s Administration Building at 5011 East 5th St near downtown Katy, Texas.
