If you are one of the thousands – maybe millions— of people who will be taking advantage of Black Friday’s tremendous deals this week, there are a few things you should remember before you head out the door. Besides remembering to bring your store circulars and your stamina for the possibility of waiting in long lines, you will also need to bring you’re A-game when it comes to safety.
Along with all the great deals Black Friday promises there is also the heightened threat of unsavory activity. Unfortunately when there are large crowds, the chance of having your pocketbook or wallet stolen is greatly increased. The more people there are, the greater chance of some of them being criminals. It may seem quite un-festive to discuss criminals when it comes to holiday shopping, but it is a reality nonetheless.
When you head out the door for your Black Friday excursion, make sure you know where your money and credit cards are at all times. If you carry a purse, keep it close to your body. Do not place it in a shopping cart where it can be easily accessed. Your wallet is better off in your front pants pocket rather than the back where someone can quickly grab it without your knowledge.
Try to use the buddy system if you can when heading to the shops. When parking your car, make sure it is in a well-lit and visible area that will detract would-be criminals from lurking. If you feel uncomfortable walking back to your car, do not hesitate to ask a security guard or store employee to escort you. Getting those deals safely home without incident should be a top priority for you. Enjoy the sales and we hope you get everything you need for your holiday gift giving this year!
