Before we know it, the holidays will be here! This is a great time for families and friends to get together and celebrate- all ages. To prepare your home for your small guests this season, it may be a good idea to child-proof your home. You wouldn’t want any accidents or injuries on your property to put a dent in your finances. Luckily, your Colorado homeowners insurance will be there as back-up, too!
#1: Hide your fragile pieces. Have an expensive vase in the family room? As nice as it looks, it is a good idea to put it away.
#2: Use the back burners. You will be doing an awful lot of holiday cooking, especially when family is over! If you can, use the backburners to avoid any grabbing or reaching from small passer-bys. If you need all burners, remember to turn the handles inward.
#3: Put the animals away. We understand, your puppy is a part of the family too! However, if any of the children are too rough, your dog may nip at them. The last thing you need is a dog bite!
#4: Stay covered. The holidays are usually a good time to increase your coverage. For extra protection, update your Colorado homeowners insurance with additional policies such as valuable articles and animal liability.
#5: Decorate wisely. Be sure to put all your fancy, glass, and expensive decorations at the TOP of the Christmas tree, where children cannot reach. If not, you can consider your favorite decoration shattered.
We realize that it is only the first week of November, but you can never start preparing too soon! Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before we know it; and those little ones will be running around the house.
If you are planning on updating your Colorado homeowners insurance, do it soon! It’s better to be safe than sorry, especially during the holidays!
