The 411 on Slab Leaks from Your Texas Insurance Agency!

October 11, 2011 By

Every great family needs a good foundation- and no we are not talking about love and care! Of course, love is a great foundation for any home, but the actual CONCRETE foundation is really important, too! As your reliable Texas insurance agency, we believe that every homeowner should be educated on a common issue: slab leaks.

What are slab leaks?

Slab leaks are defined as “leaking pipes inside or underneath the concrete of a house’s flood or foundation.” No, this does not mean that your foundation is totally ruined. It simply means that there are piping issues that need to be taken care of. If these leaks are not addressed, you could be facing severe water damage over time.

When do slab leaks occur?

There are multiple reasons why slab leaks may occur, the most common being due to wear and tear. Over time, these pipes could face corrosion or even shift along with the foundation which will tear apart the pipes. The water that continually runs through these pipes is also a concern. The pH of the water can affect the pipes as well as the pressure.

How can you detect a slab leak?

The most obvious clue to detecting a slab leak: water. If you notice any moist or damp spots on your floor or carpet, that is a sure sign of a slab leak. Other signs include: a change in water pressure and increase in your water bill.

Our founder, Nathan Dagley, and the rest of us at Dagley Insurance & Financial Services are firm believers that every home should be protected. This is your greatest investment! Without reliable home insurance, you are in charge of taking care of these pricey repairs on your own. Don’t let a slab leak wash out your wallet!
