This Saturday, December 18th, Adopt a Hero for Christmas is hosting its fifth annual ride to deliver gifts to wounded soldiers and their families at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.
A recent post from The Katy Times described further details about the Adopt a Hero for Christmas initiative, and urged community members to volunteer their time to deliver gifts this weekend.
This wonderful community effort enables Texans to honor local wounded soldiers, and their families, during the holiday season. The annual ride allows for volunteers to visit with these neighborhood heroes and remind them, that especially during this festive season, they are not forgotten—and their dedication to our country is greatly appreciated.
Registration for the event will be held at la Madeleine located at 23322 Mercantile Parkway, near Grand Parkway, on the northern side of Interstate 10. Registration will begin promptly at 6:45 a.m. and volunteers will gather for a meeting at 7:15 a.m.
Adopt a Hero for Christmas is a nonprofit charity whose mission is to stand by America’s wounded soldiers and provide both them and their families with a meaningful Christmas experience.
Gift suggestions can be found on the website. Gifts are needed for the soldiers themselves as well as their children; including toddlers, pre-teens and teenagers. Popular gift ideas range from Barbie dolls, Lincoln Logs and sports equipment to books, blankets and Craftsman tool sets.
All of us at Dagley Insurance are proud to honor our hometown heroes. Their bravery deserves to be recognized this charitable season, and we wish them the happiest of holidays! Want to get involved and spread a little holiday cheer? Participants who would like to attend must RSVP; please contact “Honda Bob” LeClair at 832-498-3331.
