The Grind is Katy’s hardest hitting sports news. At The Grind we are dedicated to serving the Katy area with positive media coverage of varsity sports from Katy ISD, Faith West, Pope John XXIII and now Memorial and Strake Jesuit (since they are in our district again).
The Grind was founded by two long time Katy residents Doug Johnson and Troy Schlegel. Schlegel owns and operates Schlegel Photography out of Katy. He is an engineering manager by day and a website designer/ photographer by night. Doug a former reporter and photographer for Athletes Connection was also host of the Thunder Road Show, a motorsports talk show on a local am radio station. Doug had the business plan and the experience in the media approached Troy who had the equipment and website experience and together they created The Grind.
